Brad Racino: Investigative Journalism & Multimedia

About Brad

Hello and welcome.

My name is Brad Racino and I’m a multimedia-based investigative reporter for Investigative Newsource — a non-profit, data-driven news organization based in San Diego, California.  Although I’m mainly concentrating on maritime and police issues, I’m open to any interesting story ideas — just shoot me an email at the address below or give me a call.

My recent work has involved the Food and Drug Administration’s import operations in Los Angeles, the battle for international trade between East and West coast ports, millionaire slumlords, police surveillance groups, and the U.S. arms market.

My articles, photos and videos have been published by the Washington Post, MSNBC, ABC, Verizon Fios1 News, the Center for Public Integrity, the Florida Center for Investigative Reporting, the San Diego Union-Tribune, the Columbia Missourian, the Times Herald Record and Vox Magazine. Read some of my recent work here.

I recently buzzed my head so I don’t look like that photo anymore.

I’m also a ‘Web Content Developer’ for the National Freedom of Information Coalition (@NFOIC).  I develop multimedia content and lead a project called #OpenGovVideos — short interviews with reporters, editors, lawyers, lobbyists and congressman around the country centered around the issues of transparency and access to information.

My writing, photography and videography have been nominated for — and won — multiple awards, including a New York State Emmy Award, an Apogee award, a Missouri Press Association award, and multiple awards from the Society of Professional Journalists.

Follow the links on the left to my Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Flickr accounts.

I received my Bachelor’s degree from SUNY Albany in New York and my Master’s degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri — Columbia.
